  • [ Q ] What is Liscio Japanese Hair Straightening (TR)?
  • It's a revolutionary new technique that was originated in Japan to permanently straighten curly, wavy, frizzy and hard to manage hair. The process combines both chemicals and heat to soften the bonds of the hair to reform the bonds in a straight pattern. After treatment, you will have a pin straight, smooth, silky, and shiny hair that's healthier than before the treatment.

    Japanese Hair Straightening is a sensitive treatment. Once the hair is damaged, it is very hard to restore it. Therefore, it is crucial to choose a professional salon with experience stylists for this treatment.

    The process is performed as follows:

    1. Consultation about any previous treatments received, such as relaxers, color and high-lights, and also any scalp conditions, irritations, abrasions and/or allergies, etc.
    2. Examine the type and condition of hair
    3. Shampoo and blow dry
    4. Apply the activator
    5. Allow hair to process
    6. Examine a strand
    7. Rinse and blow dry
    8. Flat iron the hair
    9. Apply the neutralizer
    10. Rinse and condition the hair
    11. Blow dry the hair and apply flat iron as needed
  • [ Q ] Can the process be done on color treated and/or highlighted hair?
  • Yes and no. It can be done on color treated hair, and hair that has been highlighted up to 50%. However, you should consult for full head of highlights, double processed highlights or extremely damaged hair.

  • [ Q ] Can Liscio be done over a relaxer?
  • It cannot be done over hair that has been relaxed with products containing sodium hydroxide or any other metallic hydroxides. However, Liscio is compatible with other thio or cystine based relaxers or any other metallic hydroxides. The metallic dye a does not allow Liscio to be taken to the hair.

  • [ Q ] How soon before or after the Japanese hair straightening process can color be performed?
  • Usually a minimum of 2 weeks before or after having the Japanese hair straightening performed. However, we do not recommend home coloring and suggest having your hair professionally colored as special precautions need to be taken.

  • [ Q ] How long does the Japanese hair straightening process take?
  • It usually takes an average of 3-4 hours depending on the length, thickness and condition of the hair.

  • [ Q ] How soon can I wash my hair after the treatment?
  • You may not shampoo within 72 hours after the treatment, nor wet your hair or exercise within 48 hours. Do not ponytail or tuck your hair behind your ears. Also do not put pins, clips, rubber bands, barrettes on hair as it may leave a kink in the hair. Last but not least, do not swim for 2 weeks.

  • [ Q ] How long will the Japanese Hair Straightening treatment last?
  • Once the hair has been treated, it will remain straight until it grows out and/or is cut off. New growth generally needs to be touched up anywhere from 4-6 months after.

  • [ Q ] What about touch ups?
  • The new hair growth can be made straight again without touching the rest of the hair. The previously treated hair is protected by creams with protein lotion on it. As far as the process time goes, it's about the same amount of time or sometimes longer as hair texture may now be different, an the previously processed hair needs to be protected. All hair must still be ironed and neutralized. The retouching process is often more difficult to perform, so it is strongly recommended that you go to a trusted salon.

  • [ Q ] How should I maintain at home?
  • Milbon's Crede Ft shampoo and Crede Er conditioner have been specially formulated to enhance the soft and weightless feel of the hair, as well as to maintain the manageability and silky feel. Because some shampoos have adverse effect on the hair after it has been thermally reconditioned, it is very important to follow a strict routine with shampoos and conditioners.

  • Typically ranges from $150 - $200, depending on hair length, thickness, density and if any chemicals are present.

  • BKT is a new technique that was originated in Brazil. It is neither a relaxer nor a activator since both use chemicals to change the texture of your hair. It is a temporary hair straightening process that uses keratin, a natural substance that makes 88% of your hair. Recommended for all hair types, including damaged, colored, and highlighted hair, this process is gentle and healthy for your hair, actually repairing damaged hair, leaving it soft, shiny and straight. In some case, mild curls and frizz might return after the treatment. Depending on your hair damage and texture, we might give you an option to choose from the JHS and the BKT treatment at the time of consultation.
